ConsenSys introduced an replace to its privateness coverage on November 23 (together with metamask infura and extra): While you use Infura as your default RPC supplier in MetaMask, Infura will gather your IP tackle and your Ethereum pockets tackle while you ship a transaction.
Cue mad rush to check RPC settings in Metamask by everyone.
Go Check it bro .
Any other recommended RPCs?
Whats infura tho
In the future, I see Google and Facebook having crypto wallets with their own RPCs so they can track even more of your life.
Got this list from ethereum.org, [https://chainlist.org/chain/1](https://chainlist.org/chain/1)
You can’t edit the RPC of the default Eth network, but you can add a new RPC, add the same settings but change the RPC.
Would happen eventually because blockchain is open for everyone. Privacy coins would be the next big thing!
Wow wE spElLeD consensus Kool didn’t we
tldr; Find out more about the Privacy Policy of ConsenSys.

I don’t trust consensys and joe lubin one bit
This is metamask’s explanation of infura https://metamask.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4417315392795-What-is-Infura-and-why-does-MetaMask-use-it-
To put this simply for people:
Metamask is logging every users IP address (if you use the default RPC which most people probably are).
This is a huge breach of privacy and should piss everyone off.
It means they, or anyone who has access to their data (The Government, three letter agencies etc) can trivially pinpoint who owns a wallet address and who made which transactions.
There is no reason ANY wallet software should be tracking users like this.
That’s how nodes work
Not cool at all.
Thanks for the heads up, just changed my RPC.
Use gamestop wallet
The first post I see is accurate and not a shitty headline saying that MetaMask logs your ip
