I assumed all transactions ought to end underneath 6 hours+- however evidently my transaction takes 15 hours already

Mine took a little over an hour
Go to mempool.space and copy your transaction ID into the search. Blocks are still every 10 minutes but you’ve got to pay the proper fee to be in the next one. Otherwise you wait your turn.
What fee (sats/byte) did you attach?
If you’re the sender, you forgot to send it
If you’re the recipient, the sender forgot to send it
There have been many periods in the past 16 hours where all transactions confirmed in the next block

transactions don’t finish, they just get confirmations (block that includes it + number of blocks on top of that one), each one makes it more costly to undo
