>immediate moratorium on energy-intensive “proof-of-work” crypto mining powered by fossil fuels. For two years, no new permits for such mining operations will be issued and no existing permits will be renewed, according to the law (A7389C).
You most probably can still mine at home by yourself
What would happen if all the big BTC mining companies were effectively banned around the world and you could have individuals mining from USB sticks again? (yes, I know it won’t happen)
I read earlier that they didn’t ban mining they put a law in place to stop mining at fossil fuel sites. So I’m guessing you can still mine **anywhere** else in NY
Someone know exactly what they mean by banning pow? I mean the farms i can get my head around it but clearly the dude running a monero node on a raspberry pi is excluded from that right?

So, they have effectively grandfathered existing commercial mining operations.
The government putting limitations on what you can spend your money on, just as the founders envisioned!
Maybe this is the push to get us off fossil fuels which isn’t a bad idea!
This is good for BTC

This is good imo. Pushes miners towards renewable forms of energy and gets rid of a lot of the FUD surrounding energy usage
isn’t this just a renewal of a law banning new miners form over a year ago?
So long, BTC
Damn bad news.

And that’s a joke
